Alexandre Lacazette might have more company up top at Arsenal, as he recently told Match of the Day magazine he plans on convincing best friend and Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann to join the Gunners next summer.
Despite the fact Griezmann is among the hottest, and potentially among the most expensive, properties in world football, Lacazette said he's still going to try and get him to join the club.
"Yeah (Griezmann is my best mate), we are very good friends and have lots of fun," Lacazette said, as quoted by the Telegraph.
"Our nicknames for each other are Griezzy and Lacaz. If Griezzy visits me in London, I'm going to ask him to sign for Arsenal!"
While Griezmann would certainly be an upgrade in Arsenal's attacking line, the move would also coincide with the potential departure of Alexis Sanchez, who is in the final year of his contract at the club. The Chile international reportedly pushed for a switch to Manchester City last summer and would be able to leave the club for free at the end of the season.
Griezmann remains at Atletico Madrid this season despite fielding plenty of interest in the summer. As Atletico is transfer banned, the club could not sign a replacement this year. But with Diego Costa set to join in January, Diego Simeone's side could have another top striker to mitigate the loss of Griezmann, though not outwardly replace him like-for-like.
