Dortmund Confirm Batshuayi Arrival On Loan From Chelsea

February 02, 2018
•

Bundesliga giants, Borrusia Dortmund, have confirmed signing Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on loan till the end of the season
- The Belgian forward joined Dortmund as a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
- Batshuayi only joined Chelsea 18 months ago from Marseille in a deal worth over £30m
Bundesliga giants, Borrusia Dortmund, have confirmed signing Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on loan till the end of the season.
The Belgian forward joined Dortmund as a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Bundesliga giants took to their official Twitter to confirm the signing of their newly attack recruit.
Batshuayi only joined Chelsea 18 months ago from Marseille in a deal worth over £30m.
But the 24-year-old did not make the kind of impact he would have expected under Antonio Conte, scoring just Premier League goals this season and two in the current campaign.
Batshuayi never surpassed his role as second-choice striker to both Diego Costa and Alvaro Morata.
Even when the Spaniards were injured, Conte often preferred to deploy midfielder Eden Hazard as a false nine.
But all parties are sure to be hoping that Batshuayi’s loan move helps him to develop as a player.
He will wear the number 44 shirt at Dortmund and could automatically become their No 1 forward.

Batshuayi said: “In order to reach my big goal, I want to play as much as I can and score many goals because there is the World Cup this summer.”
The Belgian forward wasted no time in jelling with new teammates as he had his first training session with his new team less than 24 hours after his London switch.
Bazymedia previously reported that French striker Olivier Giroud has completed £18 million move to reigning Premier League champions Chelsea from Arsenal on 18 month deal.

Ibrahimovic free to leave Manchester United if he wants, says Mourinho

January 30, 2018
•

Manchester United will not stand in the way of Zlatan Ibrahimovic if he wants to leave the club, manager Jose Mourinho said on Monday. But the Swedish striker, linked by British media with a move to LA Galaxy, has not mentioned the subject to his manager

If that is true and Zlatan wants a future in another club in another country then I will help and create conditions for that to happen,” Mourinho told reporters. The 36-year-old Ibrahimovic, who joined Manchester United in 2016 and is out of contract in the summer, has hardly played this season after suffering a knee ligament injury in 2017. But Mourinho said Ibrahimovic was striving to get back to peak condition. “He’s working hard to be fit. I’m not saying injured because he’s not injured. I think he’s in a moment of trying to feel really ready for the demands of English Premier League football.” Mourinho also gave an update on midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who is free to talk to other clubs as his contract ticks down. “He knows I want him and the club wants him and I think that’s very important for him. But then there is a paper to sign but you only sign the paper when you are happy with what’s on the paper,” Mourinho said. The 30-year-old Belgian has been linked with a move to Turkish side Besiktas.(Reuters/NAN)

Nadal and Federer, seeded one and two at this week's Shanghai Rolex Masters, have loaded draws. The Swiss said he didn't think Nadal would play in Asia, especially following a hectic summer which he finished with the title at the US Open.

"It's nice to see him keep going, a really big win for him (China Open, Beijing) on Sunday," Federer said of Nadal. "He won the US Open, played the Laver Cup, so for him to go to Beijing and win it right away, I expected him to pull out, to be honest, just because, why not? And come here to Shanghai. Or maybe just skip Asia totally. You know, why not? There is no reason for him to push so hard."

Federer underlined that Nadal was more than just clay court king. He can play on all surfaces.

"He played the final of the Australian Open. That's not losing in the first round. He made his point early in the season that he can play on hard courts, he showed that 15 years ago. The problem for him is that he has won 10 French Opens. People think he cannot play on hard courts because he has won so many French Opens."

Lacazette plans to persuade best friend Griezmann to join Arsenal

October 03, 2017
•

Alexandre Lacazette might have more company up top at Arsenal, as he recently told Match of the Day magazine he plans on convincing best friend and Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann to join the Gunners next summer.
Despite the fact Griezmann is among the hottest, and potentially among the most expensive, properties in world football, Lacazette said he's still going to try and get him to join the club.
"Yeah (Griezmann is my best mate), we are very good friends and have lots of fun," Lacazette said, as quoted by the Telegraph.
"Our nicknames for each other are Griezzy and Lacaz. If Griezzy visits me in London, I'm going to ask him to sign for Arsenal!"
While Griezmann would certainly be an upgrade in Arsenal's attacking line, the move would also coincide with the potential departure of Alexis Sanchez, who is in the final year of his contract at the club. The Chile international reportedly pushed for a switch to Manchester City last summer and would be able to leave the club for free at the end of the season.
Griezmann remains at Atletico Madrid this season despite fielding plenty of interest in the summer. As Atletico is transfer banned, the club could not sign a replacement this year. But with Diego Costa set to join in January, Diego Simeone's side could have another top striker to mitigate the loss of Griezmann, though not outwardly replace him like-for-like.

Relief for Man U as Belgium offers positive Lukaku injury update

October 03, 2017
•

bazymedia image

Manchester United will be relieved to hear that a scan on Romelu Lukaku’s ankle has revealed "no fracture or structural damage".
The in-form striker, who has netted 11 times in 10 games since joining the Red Devils for £75 million ($99.6 million) over the summer, is away on international duty with Belgium.
He was unable to take part in training with his country on Monday, sparking fears that he could be sidelined through injury.
Belgium quickly announced that the 24-year-old would be undergoing further tests, and they have offered a positive update following those medical examinations.
A statement released by the national team read: "Romelu Lukaku underwent an MRI scan but no fracture or structural damage has been diagnosed.
"The next days he will follow an individual training program. It is however too early to state that he won't be match fit for the Bosnia and/or Cyprus game."
Belgium are not due to be in action until Saturday, when they take in a World Cup qualifier with Bosnia and Herzegovina. They are then due to face Cyprus on October 10.
Lukaku is not needed by Roberto Martinez’s side in those contests, with their place at next summer’s showpiece in Russia already secured.
They will, however, have been hoping to call on him at some stage and provide him with an opportunity to keep his prolific run going.
United, though, will be eager to ensure that a key man is returned to them ready to slot straight back into their starting XI.
Jose Mourinho is already having to contend with an untimely injury to Paul Pogba, with the £89m ($118.2 million) midfielder ruled out "long-term" with a hamstring complaint.
The Red Devils could do without picking up any more knocks as they will return to domestic action on October 14 with a crunch clash against old adversaries Liverpool.
With Belgium refusing to rule Lukaku out of their upcoming fixtures, that would suggest that a period of rest is all that is required to get the powerful frontman back up to speed and ready to lead the line once again.

UCL: Batshuayi, Lukaku, Neymar score as Chelsea stun Atletico, Man United conquer Moscow, PSG rattle Bayern

September 28, 2017
•

Premier League champions, Chelsea, snatched a dramatic victory against Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid, to maintain their 100% start in Champions League.
The match, played at the Estadio Metropolitano in Spain on Wednesday night, was heading to a 1-1 draw before substitute Michy Batshuayi grabbed the winner with the last kick of the game.
The home side had taken the lead through Antoine Griezmann’s penalty on 40th minute, but Alvaro Morata levelled both sides on the hour mark, before Batshuayi fired home in stoppage time to give Chelsea a deserved victory.
In the Group C’s other game, AS Roma defeated Qarabag 2-1, which takes Chelsea top of the group on 6 points ahead of the Italians on 4 points; while Atleti stay 3rd on one point.
In Moscow, Belgian striker, Romelu Lukaku scored twice to help Manchester United thrash CSKA 4-1 to stay top of Group A, as Basel destroyed Benfica 5-0.
Lukaku headed in a cross from Anthony Martial in the 4th minute to put the visitors ahead, before Martial converted a penalty after Henrikh Mkhitaryan was brought down to double their lead.
Thanks to a defensive error from the hosts, Lukaku tappedin very easily his second of the night to keep the Red Devils 3-0 up at halftime.
Mkhitaryan added the fourth from close range after the break, before Konstantin Kuchaev slid in a well-taken consolation on 90 minutes.

Elsewhere, Paris St-Germain outgunned Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich, in a heavyweight Champions League showdown.
The French giants thumped their visitors 3-0 to go three points clear at the top of Group B, as Scottish champions, Celtic, stunned their Belgian counterparts, Anderlecht, 3-0 in the group’s other game.
Dani Alves fired the hosts into the lead after just 84 seconds following a great run and pass by Neymar.
It was Neymar who later completed the scoring when he finished off Kylian Mbappe’s fantastic attacking display in the 63rd minutes after Edinson Cavani’s shot had doubled their lead on the half hour mark.
Italian champions, Juventus, took a long time to break down Olympiakos in their first home game of the season’s Champions league, but secured a 2-0 win over the Greek side.
Substitute Gonzalo Higuain came off the bench to score in the 69th minute before helping to create another for Mario Mandzukic, who grabbed the second on 80 minutes.
In Portugal, an own goal by Sporting Lisbon defender, Sebastian Coates, was enough to earn Barcelona a second Champions League victory.
Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez both wasted excellent chances in the opening 45 minutes, but the win puts the Spanish giants atop the group D on 6 points ahead of the Sporting,Juventus and Olympiacos in that order.
Meanwhile, Messi made his 593rd Barcelona appearance in the game, which ties him third with Carles Puyol on the club’s all-time list.

September 28, 2017

Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente has heaped praises on the club’s manager, Zinedine Zidane, naming him the best coach they could possibly have.
The 22-year-old was holding a ‘question and answer’ on his Twitter account as fans bombarded him with questions including one on the French manager.
“Having him as manager is a real luxury,” Llorente replied.
“He is one of the best players ever and you learn from him, he is the best Coach we could possibly have.”
Real, defending champions of the UEFA Champions League, secured their first-ever win at Borussia Dortmund in a matchday 2 clash on Tuesday.
Zidane is our best possible Coach --Llorente
They have thus acquired 6 points from two matches in the group stage, and will host Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur in their next game, with the hope of a favourable outcome.
Llorente was also asked about his relationship with Madrid, to which he continued: “They are the club for me and for my family, they always have been.
“It’s incredible to play at the Bernabeu, the demands of the shirt means we must aim to win every match and every competition.
“Our aim this season is to retain La Liga and win a third Champions League competition in a row, alongside the Copa Del Rey and the Club World Cup.”
Real will host Espanyol this Sunday in their week 7 fixture of the La Liga.

Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta believes his Spanish teammate Diego Costa was ‘underrated’ during his stay at Stamford Bridge.
Costa, who joined the Blues from Atletico Madrid back in 2014 and was Chelsea’s highest goal scorer last season, recently completed a move back to the Spanish side.
Azpilicueta, speaking ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Atletico in the Champions league on Wednesday, said, “He (Costa) was an underrated player here.”

He added: “I was lucky enough to play with Diego at Chelsea and with Spain, where I hope to play with him again of course.
“He has now decided for a change so best of luck to him, he was a very important player for Chelsea but now he has moved on so must we.”
Though his transfer has been completed, Costa will not play until January. He will watch his new side host Chelsea in matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League from the stands.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho shows some uncharacteristic humility as he faces CSKA Moscow again

September 26, 2017
•
For a man who once declared: “At Porto there was God and after God there was me.” Jose Mourinho is not a man who generally does humility. And yet here he was in late September, unbeaten in the league, knowing that a win against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday night would put Manchester United on course for the Champions League knockout rounds with something to spare, talking of the need for patience and humility. “The way to keep this line of success is to do what we have been doing,” he said. “If the opponents have superiority, we have to be humble, like we were at Southampton. When I was looking at that game again on television, there was a moment in that match that could have transformed the game completely. “We were winning 1-0 and we were winning easily but in the second half we had to be humble and we had to accept we had to fight hard. Yes, we need to go into matches thinking we can dominate but we also have to accept the reality of high-level football and be humble when the opponent is on top.” The moment in Saturday’s hard-fought victory at St Mary’s Mourinho was referring to was the injury to Marouane Fellaini caused by a challenge from Southampton’s Shane Long that the Manchester United manager thought reckless. “Fellaini was lucky, it could have been a much worse situation,” said Mourinho. “I don’t have Paul Pogba and I don’t have Michael Carrick. I don’t expect him (Fellaini) to be out for a long time, we have the international break after Saturday’s game with Crystal Palace so I hope he can be back with us soon.” Mourinho did not, however, round on the referee, saying that he had been watching on television, a luxury Craig Pawson did not have. This was perhaps an example of Mourinho being humble to the man who had sent him to the stands at Southampton. There will be no further action taken against the Manchester United manager which, Mourinho reflected, suggested there were ‘no reasons’ for the dismissal. The loss of Fellaini compounds the weakness in a Manchester United midfield already without the injured Paul Pogba and Michael Carrick. That Fellaini is considered so central to United would bring a wry smile to David Moyes’s lips. When the Belgian arrived at Old Trafford four years ago it was at the fag-end of a summer transfer window in which Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor had failed to bring in anyone to join the champions of England except the big, lumbering midfielder who had worked with him at Everton. Moyes may have failed in the managerial dug-out but his two signings – Juan Mata was the other – have proved impeccable. When Manchester United were last in Russia, it was to play out a 1-1 draw with Rostov on a dreadful, rutted pitch. The surface in CSKA Moscow’s stadium will be rather better but while they may have won the European Cup in the Russian capital, Manchester United’s record against Russian teams in their own country is utterly unimpressive. The sum total of away games against Torpedo Moscow, CSKA Moscow (twice), Rotor Volgograd and Rostov, spread over a quarter of a century is a 1-0 win, two defeats (one in a penalty shoot-out) and two draws. CSKA may have seen their great rivals, Spartak Moscow, win the Russian Premier League, but they have started the new season rather better and were good enough to overcome Benfica in Lisbon’s Stadium of Light in the opening round of Champions League fixtures. A draw may not be such a bad result. “I have faced CSKA Moscow with Real Madrid, with Inter, with Chelsea and now with Manchester United,” Mourinho reflected. “It is normal in my Champions League career. Moscow is a beautiful city and every time I come here it looks better and better and I have to say that this is the best CSKA team I have faced.” It is probably true but this was another example of Jose Mourinho being ever so humble. Wayne Rooney suffered a nasty eye injury during Everton’s 2-1

September 25, 2017
•
Wayne Rooney suffered a nasty eye injury during Everton’s 2-1 win over Bournemouth and was forced to leave the field with blood pouring from his face. Rooney took an elbow to the face from Bournemouth defender Simon Francis following a challenge in the air and blood could be seen pouring from a cut around his eye.

The former England skipper needed lengthy treatment from the club’s medical staff before he was allowed to rejoin the action.
Rooney protested heavily to referee Martin Atkinson over the challenge but the official refused to hand out any punishment to Francis.
The experienced forward suffered more problems just two minutes before half-time when his cut re-opened following a challenge with Adam Smith.

Rooney needed more treatment from the Everton medics after more blood was streaming down his face.
England’s all-time leading scorer eventually left the field on 55 minutes and manager Ronald Koeman is hopeful that he will be fit for their next game against Apollon Limassol in the Europa League on Thursday.

Why I want Leicester move – Ndidi

Genk star  Wilfred Ndidi has confirmed he will be joining  Premier League champions Leicester City in January.
“It’s time to take time to take the next step,” Ndidi said in a television interview.
“I need to make improvements, it will be a challenge.
“Let’s wait till January and see what happens.”
Ndidi has been a massive bargain buy for Belgian club Genk in two short years.
He was bought from Nath Boys of Lagos for about £80,000  as a central defender in 2015 and early next year, he is headed to Leicester for a fee that could go up to 18.6 million pounds with add-ons as a top-class defensive midfielder.
However, the transfer will depend on him being granted a work permit in the UK.

Kahn doesn’t like me – Okocha

September 25, 2017
•

Austin Okocha
Nigerian legend Austin Okocha has revealed that former Germany goalkeeper Oliver Kahn is still unhappy with him 23 years after he scored a wonder goal against the revered shot stopper.
Okocha stated this at an interactive media briefing tagged ‘ Bundesliga Legend Tour with Jay-Jay Okocha’ organised by Pay Television Company StarTimes and DeutsheFussballLiga.
Karlsruhe keeper Kahn had come out of his line to thwart an Eintracht Frankfurt attack during a Bundesliga game in 1993, but Okocha turned him inside with his dribbles, with the German tumbling down inside the box.
But the Nigerian was not done yet as he dribbled past more Karlsruhe defenders, going past some of them twice, before slotting in past Kahn, who had enough time to recover but couldn’t stop Okocha.
“Kahn doesn’t like me, he has taken it personal. I was just doing my job, I didn’t have the intention to hold the ball too long but he was at the receiving end. I am grateful to God for that because people can still identify me with something in Germany,” he said.
The ex-Super Eagles captain asserted that starting his European career in Germany triggered his professional career. He left Nigeria for Germany at 17 and started out with a second division side FC Saarbrucken before moving up to become one of the biggest stars of the Bundesliga.
“Being the World Cup champions is not a fluke; their youth development programme is strong. I used to say that I got to Germany as a boy but I left as a man. I never knew they had the structure in term of discipline, education and lifestyle,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, the Marketing Director Star Times, Dare Kafar, said the legend tour is part of the five years exclusive broadcast right to air Bundesliga matches in Nigeria, which was signed a year ago.
In the same vein, the managing director DFL Sports Enterprise, Tobias Ross, stated that the legend tour would help share the Bundesliga experience outsideGermany, adding that they want the league to get closer to their international supporters.

ARSENAL - SEAD KOLASINAC, THE CHARACTER THAT SHAKES THE GUNNERS

September 25, 2017
•

Arrived this summer from Schalke 04, the Bosnian side shows beautiful mental qualities and is already unanimous within Arsenal.
Sead Kolasinac has not forgotten where he came from. Goal scorer against Cologne in the Europa League ten days ago, he did not hesitate to celebrate his achievement by showing a tee-shirt touting the ultras of Schalke 04, his former club and rival of the Red and White. A beautiful provocation for the child of Gelsenkirchen, passed among young people also by Stuttgart, Hoffenheim and Karlsruhe. By recruiting the 24-year-old left-backer, Arsene Wenger wanted to build on one of the Bundesliga's strong points in this position, but also to win in character, a quality that has often been lacking in the Gunners in recent seasons. One recalls in particular the "one would have said children" pronounced by Patrice Evra one night of victory of Manchester United.
Character does not necessarily mean aggressive, in the wrong sense. Since his beginnings with the professionals, in 2012, Kolasinac did not take any red card, either in club or in selection. If some people call him "bourrin" in his attitude, statistics prove the opposite. Little by little the Bosnian international has grown to maturity and has been given responsibilities in his corridor. It has everything from the archetypal modern side with a large volume of play, which does not hesitate to go back and forth to propose solutions to his teammates.
